Farrington A. Cador is joining our team as the Director of Scholar Support. Farrington hails from Tacoma, WA and is a graduate of the Tacoma Public Schools. From volunteering with Community in Schools, Hearts for Kids & the Trufant Family Foundation as a high schooler, she developed a passion for community outreach. After graduating from Henry Foss High School, she went on to attend the illustrious Clark Atlanta University & earned a B.A. in English w/ a minor in Education. She returned to her hometown to set out on pursuing her passion of Youth Education Advocacy with Goodwill Industries - The REACH Center - Good Guides Mentoring Program. Farrington most recently was the Internship Coordinator (School of the Arts) for NEXT Move Internship program with Tacoma Public Schools where she connected high school Juniors & Seniors with companies/opportunities that matched their post-high plans. Farrington has also been a member of the Graduate Tacoma - STEAM Network as a Co-Chair for the Career Connected Learning sector.

As a mentor with Palmer Scholars for the past 4 years & Training Facilitator, she has an understanding and deep appreciation for what our organization brings to the community. Farrington's mission: "I want to make sure that everyone has a career and life that they are passionate about & for! The greatest tragedy in this world is for our youth to grow up & merely exist. I want to spark that passion!" In her rare free time, Farrington enjoys spending tons of time with her huge family for dinner & game nights, as well as traveling with her CAU Family! Farrington is determined to make her mark on the community that she holds so close to her heart & is excited to be joining the Palmer Scholars Organization.

Welcome, Farrington!

 SUPPORT OUR MISSION TODAY!

Palmer Scholars acknowledges that our work is carried out on, and our office space is located within, occupied Coast Salish land, specifically that of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. We pay respect to Coast Salish Elders past and present and extend that respect to their descendants and to all Indigenous peoples. To acknowledge this land is to recognize its longer history and our place in that history; it is to recognize these lands and waters and their significance for the peoples who lived and continue to live in this region, whose practices and spiritualties were and are tied to the land and the water, and whose lives continue to enrich and develop in relationship to the land, waters, and other inhabitants today.

We also pause to recognize and acknowledge the labor upon which our country, state, and institutions are built.

We remember that our country is built on the labor of enslaved people who were kidnapped and brought to the U.S. from the African continent and recognize the continued contribution of their survivors. We also acknowledge all immigrant labor, including voluntary, involuntary, trafficked, forced, and undocumented peoples who contributed to the building of the country and continue to serve within our labor force. We acknowledge all unpaid care-giving labor.

To the people who contributed this immeasurable work and their descendants, we acknowledge our/their indelible mark on the spaces in which we operate today. It is our collective responsibility to critically interrogate these histories, to repair harm, and to honor, protect, and sustain this land.
